Don't Pass Me By: Art Inspired By Lyrics, 2012
Mount Holyoke College
The link between music and visual art goes as far back as Plato’s discussion of tone and harmony in relation to art. For decades, musicians have associated sound with visual images; Christian Schubart, described Bb minor as, “A quaint creature, often dressed in the garment of night” and B major as, “strongly colored, announcing wild passions, composed from the most glaring colors”. Likewise, lyrics often compose very specific images in our minds. This exhibition takes its original inspiration from Allan Aldridge’s The Beatles Illustrated Lyrics (1969), featuring images inspired by Beatles lyrics by a number of internationally famous artists. Artists from the 5-colleges were able to choose any song and medium that inspired them.

Unraveled: Celebrating Achievements and Dissecting Challenges Facing Women, 2012
Mount Holyoke College
The celebration of women’s history started with the annual observance of International Women’s Day, March 8th, and slowly grew to a week long celebration which was finally was extended to the entire month of March in 1987. During Women’s History Month, we celebrate the stories and achievements of women that are often forgotten and left out of history books. Remembering these stories, not only honors women of the past (and present), but also empowers young women today. These amazing women act as role models inspiring us to carry on their legacies. This exhibition honors remarkable women through visual representations and written texts. Created solely by women in the Five College area, this exhibition also celebrates them and their creativity.
